Irish Tatler: JEWEL CONTROL

Behind the scenes from Rough Dreams Instagram
So, I am very excited to finally share with you a project I had the pleasure of assisting on last month in my new role as social media corespondent for JOANNE HYNES.

I can reveal it was in fact a photo shoot for Irish Tatler, with Joanne herself at the helm heading up styling and creative direction.
I had the opportunity to work with an incredibly talented team with an excellent sense of humour and the end result really does perfectly reflect the amazing creative energy which was present on the day.

I posted a little behind the scenes image on the Rough Dreams >>Instagram<< last month of the team and I, all in full swing on one of the final shots of the day.

Now, finally, the issue is out in shops (October Issue!) and I can share all of the awesome shots with you guys :)

I have also planned to share some exclusive behind the scenes images from the shoot in a post later in the week, so many delicious accessories and lots of smiles.

THE FRIENDLY VIBES

"Last week I popped into two of my favourite Dublin Boutiques Om Diva and Siopaelle for some fun and personal events."
The best! Earrings from Om Diva.
Apologies for the MIA behaviour this week, I am half way between moving back to the big smoke and so I've been forced to live out of a suitcase hopping from Galway to Dublin and back again in what seems like one never ending car journey. Now transport solutions aside, I have managed to fit some fun little experiences in, between the delights (hem) of packing and such grown-up type necessities.
Last week I popped into two of my favourite Dublin Boutiques Om Diva and Siopaelle for some fun and personal events. On Wednesday I made my way to Om Diva's Drury Street home to celebrate the launch of there new website OmDivaBoutique.com. We were greeted with huge smiles and a glass of champagne, before being ushered in to join the party- very generous good-bags in tow.

THE FLARE PHILOSOPHY

"but I feel it is only now that the elusive bellbottom is coming into it's own, working their way onto the 'hotlist of popular culture' again, after years of shunning from the likes of 'Skinny' and 'Boyfriend'."

Touching on the subject of 'Flares. That all important word which has been treasured and loathed in equal measure for the current generations of 'The Nearly Grown up's' or the 20-somethings generation to be more precise. Their place in the 'cringing memories' of our Millennium youth have been a ripe and lasting reminder of what can happen when a tween gets their hands on a well formed Trend and proceeds to exercise it into the stale oblivion of the Trend Boneyard. It's a simple fact of life that when the 'pre-youths' finally come to terms with an idea, it is promptly morphed into a layer-cake of extremes- in this case perhaps; a denim flares and matching jacket ensemble, suitable pastel rhinestone embellishment, the obligatory pink lensed diamante sunglasses (preferably heart shaped) and of course the all important platform trainer a la Spice Girls (credit where it's due, this shoe choice is making a come back under the stealthy guise of a new name: see 'Flatform').

DUBLIN FASHION FESTIVAL: CREATIVE QUARTER SHOW

"With Angela Scanlon as our host for the night, we were kept on our toes with her quick wit and brilliant sense of humour and everyone seem to have a huge smile on there face throughout the night."

Necessary face pulling on the night for some laughs.
Hey guys,
I thought I'd share a quick lowdown of my final day at the Dublin Fashion Festival, which I attended last week. You can also catch my post on the launch of the DFF >>>HERE<<<. This time around it was an outing for the 'Creative Quarter' fashion show which was held in a converted Powerscourt Townhouse (BTW, absolutely gorgeous location for those of you who haven't seen it- try Tea time at the Pepperpot Cafe for a very cutesy experience).
I was running a little late to this event, so arrived just in time for the show to start. I did however pick up a goody-bag on the way in and managed to bump into lots of familiar faces including the very lovely Laura Mullett of Lipstick Gossip and Galway girl Ciara O Doherty

The downfalls of arriving to a fashion show just on time meant no seat for the show, but I did get a great spot to see all of the looks at the end of the catwalk. The shows theme was evening wear, with a focus on textures including sequins and fur (and fluff of assorted varieties). The energy on the night - as with all of the DFF events- was fantastic!

DUBLIN FASHION FESTIVAL- YOUNG DESIGNER 2014 SHOW

I have been itching to share this post with you guys, the lowdown on my first evening at the Dublin Fashion Festival, spent at the Young Designer of the Year Show. The event was as impressive as promised, held amongst the columns of the Bank of Ireland building amid copious amounts of smoke and mood lighting with waves of house music and complimentary cocktails on a warm Autumn evening.

TOPSHOP AW2014 SHOWCASE

Hey guys, completely crackers week of working and events just gone by, but I'm now relaxing over a huge mug of tea writing this post. I have had so much fun over the last few days travelling around, popping into events in Galway and Dublin. While in Dublin I was attending some events for The Dublin Fashion Festival which I will be posting about later in the week, I can't wait to share the experience with you guys!

So as I mentioned on Wednesday I was in Galway at the Topshop AW14 showcase, which gave use a chance to get an exclusive preview of the brand new collection for Fall, which was an amazing take on tomboy meets cool girl. There was 20% off everything in-store on the night, including the benefit counter where they were also offering makeup application using all of the bestsellers. Excitement!

I picked up some TS goodies- gold Creole earrings & skinny ribbed cropped tee and I also treated myself to a Benefit package feat the 'They're Real' Mascara & 'Push Up' eyeliner both of which I am extremely pleased with so far. (Check out pics below for a peak at the new pieces)

DUBLIN FASHION FESTIVAL- THE BREAK-DOWN

There's a bustling week of fashion ahead in the form of the elaborate Dublin Fashion Festival.
As you might have heard, this week sees the the kick off of the fourth annual Dublin Fashion Festival, a long weekend of live fashion events and interactive in-store activities for fashion enthusiasts and shopaholics alike.

I'll be attending the Young Designer of the Year and the Creative Quarter Fashion Shows on Thursday and Friday. An excellent reason to shed my black skinnies and hit the town for some high impact activities. I'm still deciding on what to wear, mulling over some sport-lux teal trousers (a recent H&M purchase) or a collection of dresses stored away for this shape of occasion, although I haven't decided on either bringing me to that scary territory of outfit limbo.

BRIGHTON, THE MINI ADVENTURE

As I mentioned in my last post, last week I popped over to Brighton for the weekend.
I have an abundant family unit based there and have been visiting since I was a pocket sized chubster, wearing baby-grows and woolly Tibetan-earflap hats (apparently mum thought this was the height of cool).
