I have been itching to share this post with you guys, the lowdown on my first evening at the Dublin Fashion Festival, spent at the Young Designer of the Year Show. The event was as impressive as promised, held amongst the columns of the Bank of Ireland building amid copious amounts of smoke and mood lighting with waves of house music and complimentary cocktails on a warm Autumn evening.

Now that I have set the scene, hem, back to the activities of the night, we were greeted on arrival with a quick outfit snap in front of the DFF banner before being ushered along to the main stage, skirted with goody-bag laden seats and topped with last years winning garment, an ethereal creation which looks like it would be at home in some underwater fantasy.

After snagging some fantastic cocktails and doing the social rounds, it was time for the main event which was hosted by the very charming Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon (Lennon Courtney). We were shown a selection of pieces from local boutiques before the finalists burst onto the stage, one by one, in all of their creative finery. One of my favourite looks was a metallic swing skirt and cutaway top combo which had incredible movement, but there were loads of brilliant pieces and finally it was time to announce the winner, which went to the talented Ciaran Gormley for a complexed, blue knitted creation.

After the show I was delighted to be approached by The Irish Times Film Crew to speak about my outfit on the night. I had a quick chat with the lovely Dominique before explaining my style influences and where I bought the pieces from.
